I knew some social media platforms before starting this class, but nothing like I know now.
Learning social media for a business is totally different and way more time consuming than I ever thought it would be. Over this past semester, I have spent endless hours learning about the various types of social media. Which one's are better for our farm and which one's I shouldn't use. I've created colorful eye catching posts and learned how to respond to comments with more likability. We used to post things that were kind of boring and not interesting about our avocado farm. Now we will take a different approach so viewers can watch, learn and appreciate what goes into growing the world's finest avocados.
I have learned what kinds of posts can catch a persons attention and which kinds don't. I now know how to create a call to action and offer discounts. I also learned how to track who my page visitors are and where they are from. And, I learned how to create a clean, concise website.
Posting with regularity increased our views more than posting without regularity, especially on Instagram and Twitter. It's interesting how that works. We got so many more views than ever before.
My viewpoint towards social media has changed completely. I now understand more about what goes into company advertisements and why I see ads pop up after I have googled a product. One thing I would have liked to learn about is Ad Sense. Maybe you can incorporate this in your next class.
While we haven't had an open market to sell yet because the California avocado season was closed, I think our business will get orders now due to all of the things I have done to make purchases possible. The season just opened for larger sized avocados. I just need to update my website from sold out to open for business. We have gained more likes and activity since taking this class.
Learning how competitors have been running their social media helped me to do a similar but better job. I was able to view each of their strategies and run with it but make ours more effective. I could see how some of the others ads were annoying and make sure not to replicate them in my own posts. If I create videos, I won't just show my hands or someone else's the entire video, I will show who that person is. I have a better understanding on how to use social media successfully now and am excited to grow our family business and watch it expand. Thank you for giving me this opportunity. California avocados really are the best superfood. Get yours at Bantle Avocado Ranch or www.avocadodude.com. Make someone's Christmas gift unique and delicious!
